Testimonials

I first met Maia when she was newly graduated from college, bright-eyed, eager, looking for challenges and a direction. She signed on as an Assistant, and there was no holding her back from there. Over the years she transitioned from Heinle & Heinle to S&S/Pimsleur Language Programs, taking on increasing responsibility, continuing to educate herself, and finding her artistic direction. There was once a company-wide competition, including outside designers as well, for a new package design: in the end, it was Maia's design that won. Maia was infallibly reliable and could be counted on to do whatever was necessary to see a project to completion. Her record-keeping was legendary. Her photography is stellar. And everything is accomplished with a smile and a can-do, let's-go attitude. Maia is truly a great colleague and a pleasure to work with. I look forward to seeing her next direction.

In my capacity as the director for Tough Ruck Nation and executive director of Military Friends Foundation 501c3, I have had the distinct pleasure to work with Maia for nearly a decade. She is a rare talent and true professional who has the ability to capture a moment while having situational awareness throughout any event. Maia is able to operate in sensitive settings with high ranking government and military personnel and has the sensitivity and respect to capture events such as military funerals. Our board of directors made up of current and former military personnel, is fully confident in her abilities as a civilian to understand military protocol and thrive within this. Her art through photography is unparalleled and I recommend anyone who has a chance to work with Maia to leap at the opportunity.

I worked with Maia at Simon & Schuster for many years. She supported the marketing team with design requests while ensuring that our brand guidelines were fully adhered to. Always keen to do more and try new ideas. Maia consistently goes the extra mile, pushing the boundaries of her role and seeking ways to enhance her contributions to the team. Never confined by her job title and always looking for ways to support other teams and expand her knowledge beyond her primary role. She's a quintessential team player. She's also a great photographer!

I had the pleasure of working with Maia Kennedy at Pimsleur Language Programs for almost 20 years. As managing editor, I worked closely with Maia to coordinate design assets for language courses.

Maia is organized, thorough, and detailed oriented. Most importantly, she gets things done on time. Publishing has strict deadlines and I don’t recall Maia ever missing a target date. She and I worked on many projects together. One that stands out was updating all our reading booklets to adhere to new design guidelines. Maia designed all the new booklets and together we created a process that allowed us to finish the project smoothly and efficiently.

Maia is extremely creative. When Pimsleur created its first app product, Maia produced the winning package design. It was visually striking and to this day my favorite Pimsleur cover.

Maia also works well as a team member. If she has time, she will help with projects that are not specifically related to her job. For example, we were faced with the challenge of updating all the audio and PDF assets for most of our courses on an Amazon web server. Maia quickly learned the process and helped us complete the project on time.

I highly recommend Maia and I will especially miss her bright personality, her laughter, and her smile.

— Liz Horber, Managing Editor, Pimsleur Language Programs

Maia's photography is exceptional. I have been so impressed with her ability to capture action shots such as air shows (from the air!), as well as parades, races, and reunion events. Maia is able to portray photos with professionalism, precision and decorum while still reflecting the very human element in her work. Her wildlife photography is amazing. Maia is profoundly generous with her time and talent - military, veterans and family events are another cherished specialty in her diverse portfolio. Any organization or client is fortunate to have Maia Kennedy on board.
